Orders

An Order is a transactional event that creates or modifies a subscription. Every subscription change in BillHive — from initial creation to plan changes, addon additions, renewals, and cancellations — is driven by an order.

Order Estimates

Before any order is confirmed, BillHive calculates a real-time order estimate showing:

  • Credits — Prorated refunds for unused portions of the current plan/period
  • Charges — New charges for the updated plan, addons, or renewal
  • Adjustments — Coupon discounts or promotional offers
  • Net Amount — The final charge or credit to be invoiced

This gives admins full visibility into the financial impact before committing the change.

Viewing Orders

Orders are visible on the subscription details page under the Orders tab. Each order shows:

  • Order ID
  • Event type
  • Date created
  • Amount
  • Status

Orders are also reflected in the Activity Log for audit purposes.

How Orders Drive Billing

  1. An admin or system triggers an action (plan change, addon addition, renewal, etc.).
  2. BillHive’s pricing engine calculates the order estimate.
  3. On confirmation, the order is placed and processed through the facade’s order orchestration.
  4. An invoice is generated for any net charges.
  5. Payment is collected via the configured payment method.
  6. The subscription’s state and terms are updated accordingly.
