Billing Strategy
The Billing Strategy settings page is the central place to configure how your customers are billed. It is divided into three sections:
- Billing Frequencies — Define the base billing cycles (e.g., Monthly, Quarterly, Annually).
- Trial Periods — Configure free trial durations that can be attached to rate plan prices.
- Billing Strategies — Create pricing points that combine a billing frequency with a commitment term length.
How They Work Together
Billing Frequency + Term Length = Billing Strategy
───────────────── ─────────── ────────────────
Monthly (1 Month) 12 cycles "Annually" (billed monthly, 12-month commitment)
Monthly (1 Month) 6 cycles "Semi-Annual" (billed monthly, 6-month commitment)
Monthly (1 Month) 1 cycle "Monthly" (month-to-month, no commitment)
Yearly (1 Year) 1 cycle "Yearly" (billed yearly, 1-year commitment)A Billing Strategy is the entity you select when creating a Rate Plan Price. It determines:
- How often the customer is invoiced (the billing frequency).
- How long the customer commits (the term length in billing cycles).
- What label appears on the pricing table toggle (e.g., “Monthly”, “Annually”).
For how frequency, Fixed or Forever billing cycle and term length work together, with examples, see Billing Frequency, Billing Cycle and Term Length.

Opting In/Out
Each billing frequency, trial period, and billing strategy has an opt-in toggle. Only opted-in items are available when creating rate plan prices or configuring subscriptions. Toggling an item off does not delete it — it simply hides it from selection dropdowns across the application.
