Business Profile & Your Data
Your business profile holds the basic business details that every payment gateway asks for. You fill it in once. BillHive reuses it whenever you onboard with a gateway, so you never retype the same details for a second gateway.
Payment gateway onboarding is being rolled out. Some screens may not be available on your account yet.
Business Profile Fields
BillHive prefills the profile from your account details. Review it before you start onboarding.
| Field | Details |
|---|---|
| Business brand name | The name customers see. Prefilled from your company name |
| Legal business name | As registered with the government |
| Business email | The gateway sends its verification email here. Prefilled from the account admin’s email |
| Phone number | Point-of-contact phone, 10–15 digits, with an optional + country code |
| Website / app URL | Must start with http:// or https:// |
| Business type | For example Proprietorship, Partnership, LLP, Private Limited, Trust |
| Business model | B2C, B2B, or Both |
| Category and sub-category | What your business sells |
| Registered address | Prefilled from your account address |
| GSTIN | Optional; leave blank if you are not GST-registered. You can also edit it, and your state, under Settings > Taxation |
To edit the profile, go to Settings > Payment Gateways > Business Profile.
Changing the profile does not update merchant accounts that are already active. To change details on an active account, update them in the gateway’s dashboard or contact the gateway’s support team.
What BillHive Stores and What It Doesn’t
BillHive stores only what it needs to link and track your gateway accounts. Sensitive KYC details go straight to the gateway.
| Data | Stored by BillHive? | Where you enter it |
|---|---|---|
| Business profile (above) | Yes | BillHive |
| Gateway merchant / account ID | Yes | Created automatically |
| Onboarding status and gateway remarks | Yes | Updated automatically |
| Business PAN | No | The gateway’s secure onboarding page |
| Authorised signatory PAN and name | No | The gateway’s secure onboarding page |
| Settlement bank account number and IFSC | No. At most a masked value such as XXXXXX1234, for display | The gateway’s secure onboarding page |
| KYC documents | No | The gateway’s secure onboarding page |
| Your customers’ card details | No. Card payments are always handled on the gateway’s hosted checkout | The gateway’s checkout |
Why BillHive Works This Way
- KYC is the gateway’s job. Under RBI rules for payment aggregators, the gateway verifies your business. BillHive doesn’t need a copy of your documents.
- Less exposure for your data. PAN numbers and bank account numbers are sensitive personal and financial data. Keeping them only with the gateway means one fewer place they can leak from.
- Card data never reaches BillHive. Your customers enter card details on the gateway’s hosted pages, so BillHive never stores, processes, or transmits them.
